As a new year begins Heersink Ranch begins a new chapter in our lives.
WE ARE OUT OF THE GOAT BUSINESS.
The Gary and Laura Teague family from Fort Morgan, CO. has purchased our entire goat operation. We know this comes as a surprise to many...WE are still in shock! Ken is elated with the turn of events. After having livestock since 1979, he is excited to begin using his new found freedom with plans of frequent visits to Texas Road House, Bass Pro, Sorum Tractor ( he is still farming), oh, and did I mention Texas Road House!
I, on the other hand, am a little lost. All I have known is caring for kids, 2 and 4 legged! I guess I will have to enjoy "the old goat" I live with and learn to venture "out of my box" to find new projects to occupy my time. We are excited for now we can concentrate on fixing up, and moving to, our new place in La Veta, CO. where we hope to have many a visit from our family and friends.
We are so thankful to have been given the opportunity to work with this terrific family. The Teagues are very involved in youth programs and are always willing to support young people in their agriculture endeavors. We are so thankful that our goats, and the genetics we have worked hard to build, will be carrying on with Teagues.
We would like to thank all the buyers and exhibitors who have purchased animals from us in the past. The Teague Family Farms WILL be involved with, and consigning to, the Colorado Classic Show Wether Sale to be held at the Colorado State Fairgrounds on April 5, 2014. So mark your calendars! You can contact Laura Teague at 970-380-1078 or email for more information.
Ken and I wish Gary and Laura, Shelby, Tucker, and Charlee Jo all the best. We are excited to start a new chapter in our lives and encourage all of you to keep showing...we WILL be cheering from the sidelines!
